Does your company transform raw materials into consumer products? Is your Huddersfield business involved in the manufacturing industry? If you’re looking for a chance to improve your firm’s efficiency and productivity, it’s time to hire a Manufacturing Apprentice in Huddersfield who can join your team and help you create more value.

Work-based learning continues to play a bigger role in employers’ recruitment decisions each year. As independent and large businesses experience the benefits of hiring an apprentice, this trend is only becoming more obvious. NLTG helps you hire a Manufacturing apprentice in Huddersfield so that your company can also boost its employee engagement, reduce turnover, and improve its performance.

Through NLTG, Huddersfield companies can recruit keen new learners who are set on developing manufacturing skills to help your company sharpen its edge. Our Manufacturing apprentices come to the role with a strong desire to get their career started – they are eager to learn the basics of manufacturing operations and the functional skills that will help them excel. Depending on your company’s specific requirements, they can also become skilled at shaping, moulding, joining, quality analysis, lifting, handling, and computer-controlled manufacturing. Whatever your firm’s precise production requirements, our apprentices are ready to get started.

If you’re wondering about how apprenticeships work, they are also a relatively cost-efficient alternative to traditional recruitment processes in numerous ways. Your current staff will relish the opportunity to put their mentoring skills into practice, and pass knowledge on to avid new learners. Neither you nor your team will need to go through any lengthy recruitment processes, either – hiring apprentices is quick and simple with NLTG’s vacancy system. Once you’ve chosen your recruit, your company will also receive a £1,000 incentive from the government for every 16- to 18-year-old apprentice you hire, paid in two equal instalments. If you’re entitled to apprenticeship funding, this makes the whole process a highly economical one!

If you’re looking for an excellent, eager new NLTG apprentice in an industry besides manufacturing, we can get your search started. We can connect your firm with Business Admin, Glass Occupations, Business Improvement Techniques, Customer Service, Warehouse and Logistics, Retail, Information Technology, Furniture Occupations, Team Leading and Management, IT, and Catering and Hospitality apprentices as well, while keeping your recruitment costs to a minimum. What training do I need to provide?

You will need to train a new apprentice in their job role and provide them with a mentor, as you would with any new member of staff.  The apprentice however, may need a little more support, especially if they have not worked in your industry before or are learning a new role.

We will visit your premises every 4 to 6 weeks to help with the training and guide your apprentice through their programme.

How much does it cost to employ an apprentice?

Apprentices are employees of your company and you are responsible for paying your apprentice’s wage.  You must pay at least the Apprenticeship minimum wage and can find out more by clicking here.  The Apprenticeship minimum wage relates to apprentices aged 16 to 18, or aged 19 and above in the first year of their Apprenticeship.

For apprentices aged under 25, you may not need to pay National Insurance contributions during their training.  Find out more by clicking here.

What days and hours do apprentices work?

Apprentices are employees of your company, with the same rights and responsibilities as any other employee.

As such, you will decide the days and hours you would like apprentices to work (which must be at least 30 hours per week), their rest breaks and paid holiday entitlement etc, in line with Employment Law and the Working Hours Directive.

If you employ an apprentice aged under 18, the law states that they must not work more than 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.  They are also entitled to paid holidays and rest breaks of at least 30 minutes if their shift lasts more than four and half hours.
