Furniture COVE

Our CoVE (Centre of Vocational Excellence) furniture training school has been open since 2004 offering specific training to the furniture industry.  Apprentices are trained to a high standard by fully qualified staff who have years of experience in the furniture industry and are mostly NLTG ex-apprentices themselves.  Training is available in woodmachining on both traditional and CNC machinery, incorporating sawing, planing, moulding and sanding machines. There is also a facility for training in modern and contemporary upholstery, and polishing and finishing techniques.

Hospitality Facilities at the Old Bakery

Our Hospitality training facilities and Titanic Restaurant at the Old Bakery were opened in 2010.  Here we deliver bespoke and nationally recognised qualifications to the Hospitality Industry. The centre is used to train apprentices at Level 2 and Level 3 in Professional Cookery, Level 2 Food and Beverage Service and Level 3 Hospitality Supervision and Leadership.  We also offer specific courses in the kitchen, with sessions including fish, meat and poultry preparation and cooking and patisserie skills, including complex chocolate and confectionary. Our Front of House facilities include Barista training, bar and cellar management and both table and silver service. At the centre we also deliver courses to engage and retrain job seekers within the East Lancashire area, working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus to offer a Level 1 Hospitality and a Level 2 Food Safety qualification. The centre also hosts a variety of external events from lunches and dinners to events for a wide variety of organisations, including City & Guilds Away Days, Interschools Masterchef competitions, Have a Go Events for local schools and Apprenticeship Weeks amongst others. Apprentices, clients and visitors are trained to very high exacting standards by fully qualified and experienced staff who strive to extract the highest of standards from learners. Learners at the centre receive training on state of the art hospitality equipment including an Espresso machine, full working bar and cellar, and modern kitchen facilities.
