NLTG can help you hire a Warehouse & Logistics Apprentice in Cheshire

If your business is Cheshire-based and looking to grow its warehouse team, NLTG is here to help! Logistics are an important part of many companies which distribute, manufacture, receive, and ship goods, and smooth operations are essential. At the warehouse floor, this often means staff should be able to quickly learn and understand about security, safety, and inventory. At NLTG, we supply Cheshire companies with Warehouse and Logistics apprentices who are ready to join you in these roles.

NLTG can help you hire a Warehouse and Logistics apprentice in Cheshire who is ready to learn. With our NLTG apprentices, you can easily teach them the (specific!) ropes that keep your Cheshire company running like clockwork. Our Warehouse and Logistics apprentices are keen as mustard to kickstart their careers in the field with some solid work experience. And they want to learn from the very best, which means your Cheshire company!

Our NLTG Warehouse and Logistics apprentices can get started working with you right away. They are ready to help you boost efficiency in your warehouse by assisting with dispatch, packaging, goods handling, and more. As they gain more and more skills from learning with you, they can very often become incredibly valuable and take up more complicated tasks. Our Warehouse and Logistics apprentices will also be able to learn about fundamental OHS and security aspects as they spend time in your Cheshire firm, helping you boost productivity in a safe and efficient manner.

When you hire an NLTG Warehouse and Logistics Apprentice in Cheshire, you can rest assured that your new recruit has already fulfilled our basic NLTG competency levels for Maths and English. As they train for their nationally certified qualifications in Warehousing and Logistics, they’ll be receiving tutoring from our NLTG team along the way. Your company won’t need to fret about the training costs either—in most cases, our Cheshire apprentice employers receive government funding to cover some or all of the training costs. And because they will train on your existing premises, here are zero transport expenses to worry about, either!

But that’s not the end of the benefits—our NLTG apprentices are often also very loyal recruits. Learning and developing their skills at your Cheshire company is frequently an invaluable advantage that sees our apprentices succeed and rise to higher internal positions even after their apprenticeships are finished. Helping your company keep staff turnover to a minimum, and improving your organisation’s morale!

A large number of our Cheshire employers have also successfully hired NLTG apprentices to fill skills gaps in other areas. If your company is seeking helpful, talented apprentices in other organisational divisions, we also provide apprentices in Furniture Occupations, Catering and Hospitality, General Manufacturing, Customer Service, Business Administration, Business Improvement Techniques, Glass Occupations, Retail, Information Technology, and Team Leading and Management. Because we want to help you connect, we’ve ensured it’s as simple as can be to raise an apprenticeship vacancy. NLTG provide training in the Cheshire area for your current employees

As business environments change, firms can either adapt or fall behind. That makes staff development and upskilling critical! NLTG offers upskilling programs that can help your employees to brush up on their existing capabilities, as well as acquire brand new ones depending on what your company requires. If you are looking to upskill your customer service staff, retail staff, manufacturing employees, or any of your teams, we can help!

When your company upskills its workforce through one of our NLTG upskilling programmes, they will train on the job at your current premises. As with our brand new apprentice recruits, your employees aren’t required to go off-site to a faraway training centre, nor will you need to pay travel costs for the ‘privilege’! They will simply train in your company, learning new skills while progressing towards a nationally recognised qualification in whatever field you both choose. To start upgrading and enhancing your employees’ skills, visit our NLTG upskilling page today!

Frequently Asked Questions

How will employing an apprentice benefit my company?

Employing an Apprentice can bring numerous benefits to your business including:

• increased productivity.

• increased employee satisfaction.

• increased loyalty and commitment.

• reduced staff turnover.

  • Apprentices will be trained to understand how your industry works, helping to ensure your future workforce is exactly the way you want it to be. They can generate new ideas and creativity to expand your business and are a cost-effective way of achieving a return on investment.

What training do I need to provide?

You will need to train a new apprentice in their job role and provide them with a mentor, as you would with any new member of staff.  The apprentice however, may need a little more support, especially if they have not worked in your industry before or are learning a new role.

We will visit your premises every 4 to 6 weeks to help with the training and guide your apprentice through their programme.

How much does it cost to employ an apprentice?

Apprentices are employees of your company and you are responsible for paying your apprentice’s wage.  You must pay at least the Apprenticeship minimum wage and can find out more by clicking here.  The Apprenticeship minimum wage relates to apprentices aged 16 to 18, or aged 19 and above in the first year of their Apprenticeship.

For apprentices aged under 25, you may not need to pay National Insurance contributions during their training.  Find out more by clicking here.

What days and hours do apprentices work?

Apprentices are employees of your company, with the same rights and responsibilities as any other employee.

As such, you will decide the days and hours you would like apprentices to work (which must be at least 30 hours per week), their rest breaks and paid holiday entitlement etc, in line with Employment Law and the Working Hours Directive.

If you employ an apprentice aged under 18, the law states that they must not work more than 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.  They are also entitled to paid holidays and rest breaks of at least 30 minutes if their shift lasts more than four and half hours.

How are disciplinary procedures handled?

They are handled like any other employee’s, but NLTG are on hand to provide help and support if you feel it is necessary.

What funding and grants are available?

If your apprentice is aged:

• 16-18; or

• 19-24 and is a care leaver or has a Local Authority Education, Health & Care Plan

… you’ll receive a £1,000 incentive payment for each apprentice.

Payments will be made in two equal instalments; the first once the apprentice has been on programme for 3 months and the second after the apprentice has been on programme for 12 months.  (It may take up to 9 weeks after the incentive payment dates for funds to be processed and transferred).

Grants may also be available but the availability and requirements for these change on a regular basis so you are best speaking to us for up-to-date information.

Depending upon the size of your company, different funding arrangements are in place for Apprenticeship training.  For full details, please click here.
