NLTG can help you hire a Customer Service Apprentice in Salford

A local business which can offer professional, helpful and timely support to its customers will always have a distinct advantage over even the most long-standing competitor who fails to deliver in terms of customer service. If a satisfied and growing client base is something that your company aspires to, a Customer Service apprentice from the NLTG can be a strategic way to achieve this. The NLTG provides career-focused, ambitious apprentices who are full of great potential and fresh new ideas to help Salford businesses achieve their growth objectives and succeed in the city’s fast-growing economy.

As a new employee within your Salford company from their very first day, your fresh and hungry Customer Service apprentice can take a range of client-facing tasks off the hands of your existing staff. This allows them to gain valuable industry experience while they work toward a nationally-recognised Diploma, develop personal learning and thinking skills, and play a valuable role as part of a wider organisational team. At the same time, your more senior staff will appreciate a chance to focus on their specialist roles at a higher level and hone their mentoring abilities. It’s no surprise then, that 89% of apprentice employers report more productive businesses as a result!

On the client side of things, being greeted and assisted by a cheerful, professional Customer Service apprentice can make a considerable positive impact on the way that your company is perceived. Whatever industry your company is operating in, a genuine, eager, and dedicated apprentice can be flexibly trained in the specific approaches that your firm adopts to ensure that customers’ problems are handled effectively, efficiently, and with a smile.

As time passes, it’s not uncommon for our NLTG apprentices to remain extremely devoted to their employers. Once they have attained their qualifications, they often choose to remain with their training organisation and often can contribute at a much higher level further down the line as a result of their familiarity with your firm.

It’s now very widely acknowledged that companies choosing to hire via the apprenticeship route are able to reduce overall business expenditure significantly by doing so. Not only have our NLTG employers eliminated the need for posting expensive adverts and interviewing countless external candidates, but they receive government funding and a £1,000 financial incentive for every new apprentice they hire! Because your Customer Service apprentice will train in your Salford business, there is similarly no need for your company to worry about travel expenses.

If your Salford company is looking to hire an apprentice in a different industry, NLTG also boasts a diverse range of apprentices who are ready to develop their skills in the areas of Catering and Hospitality, General Manufacturing, Furniture Occupations, Business Administration, Business Improvement Techniques, Glass Occupations, Information Technology, Retail, Warehouse and Logistics, and Team Leading and Management. What training do I need to provide?

You will need to train a new apprentice in their job role and provide them with a mentor, as you would with any new member of staff.  The apprentice however, may need a little more support, especially if they have not worked in your industry before or are learning a new role.

We will visit your premises every 4 to 6 weeks to help with the training and guide your apprentice through their programme.

How much does it cost to employ an apprentice?

Apprentices are employees of your company and you are responsible for paying your apprentice’s wage.  You must pay at least the Apprenticeship minimum wage and can find out more by clicking here.  The Apprenticeship minimum wage relates to apprentices aged 16 to 18, or aged 19 and above in the first year of their Apprenticeship.

For apprentices aged under 25, you may not need to pay National Insurance contributions during their training.  Find out more by clicking here.

What days and hours do apprentices work?

Apprentices are employees of your company, with the same rights and responsibilities as any other employee.

As such, you will decide the days and hours you would like apprentices to work (which must be at least 30 hours per week), their rest breaks and paid holiday entitlement etc, in line with Employment Law and the Working Hours Directive.

If you employ an apprentice aged under 18, the law states that they must not work more than 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.  They are also entitled to paid holidays and rest breaks of at least 30 minutes if their shift lasts more than four and half hours.

How are disciplinary procedures handled?

They are handled like any other employee’s, but NLTG are on hand to provide help and support if you feel it is necessary.

• 16-18; or

• 19-24 and is a care leaver or has a Local Authority Education, Health & Care Plan
