NLTG can help you hire an I.T Apprentice in Wakefield

There’s no denying that I.T. has changed the competitive business landscape drastically – and that’s not going to change anytime soon! But is your business keeping up with the pace of change?

One of the most effective ways for your Wakefield company to compete is by making sure that you have employees who are familiar with how IT works for your business. If your organisation has a website or social media presence, prepares documents or presentations, runs a support desk, or processes data, NLTG can help you hire an IT apprentice in Wakefield who is sure to  improve your performance.

Here at North Lancs Training Group, local and regional companies are able to hire an IT apprentice in Wakefield in very little time. We help you discover talented employees that are eager to hone their Information Technology skills while helping your business get ahead. NLTG IT apprentices are on the lookout for a career and learning opportunity that will enable them to interact closely with computers, software, and more. Not only this, but our secondary graduates have fulfilled our basic English and Maths competencies before they start work with you, so they are fully equipped to start working in computer maintenance, troubleshooting, document preparation, social media marketing, and more.

What else does your company stand to benefit when you hire an IT apprentice in Wakefield? Perhaps the most crucial advantage of our NLTG apprenticeships lies in their design; our pathways are all work-based and highly practical to allow your recruit a chance to train on the job. They’ll acquire the I.T. skills that your particular organisation needs the most, enabling you to fill that pesky skills gap or branch out into new areas – and they’ll be learning in the environment where their skills will be applied. Read more about the advantages of recruiting an apprentice here!

With NLTG’s Apprenticeship pathways, your Wakefield company is also eligible to claim a £1,000 financial incentive when you take a new apprentice on that’s between 16 and 18 years old. In addition to the apprenticeship funding that your company will receive, it’s possible to save a considerable amount on staff costs when you choose an apprenticeship pathway!

How else can your organisation benefit from NLTG, besides deciding to hire an IT apprentice in Wakefield? Here on our site, you’ll find plenty of information about our other Apprenticeship pathways, too. We offer Business Admin, Glass Occupations, Business Improvement Techniques, Customer Service, Retail, Manufacturing, Furniture Occupations, Team Leading and Management and Catering and Hospitality Apprenticeships that work in very similar ways to our IT Apprenticeships – with no travel expenses or college days required. NLTG provide training in the Wakefield area for your current employees

In addition to having a fresh apprentice join your team, NLTG is here to make sure you’ve got the best professional development pathways to upskill your staff. As your co-workers develop and enhance their functional and specialist skills, your Wakefield company gains strategic advantages such as more competent, multi-talented staff, and bottom-line gains. But that’s not all, by upskilling your workers through an NLTG Adult Apprenticeship, your firm is set to enjoy intangible benefits long into the future.

How? Because by upskilling your colleagues, your company is increasing its chances at better staff retention. With renewed motivation to improve and a healthy dose of professional challenge, your teammates have better internal promotion prospects and a refreshing change from the daily grind. When companies give staff chances to grow as employees, they also show their dedication to their workforce. This alone is enough to enrich role satisfaction, create a sense of purpose and direction, and improve morale across the board!

Our Adult Apprenticeships, or upskilling programmes, are designed to be as efficient and tactical as possible. There are no travel requirements such as college or training involved, as your staff will be learning in the most practical way – on the job, in your firm. Whether they take on different roles for the duration of their upskilling programme, or simply enrich their jobs with new tasks, they won’t have to worry about commuting or taking time off from work. So, to benefit from higher engagement, satisfaction, and morale, why not look into upskilling your team with NLTG?

Frequently Asked Questions

How will employing an apprentice benefit my company?

Employing an Apprentice can bring numerous benefits to your business including:

• increased productivity.

• increased employee satisfaction.

• increased loyalty and commitment.

• reduced staff turnover.

  • Apprentices will be trained to understand how your industry works, helping to ensure your future workforce is exactly the way you want it to be. They can generate new ideas and creativity to expand your business and are a cost-effective way of achieving a return on investment.

What training do I need to provide?

You will need to train a new apprentice in their job role and provide them with a mentor, as you would with any new member of staff.  The apprentice however, may need a little more support, especially if they have not worked in your industry before or are learning a new role.

We will visit your premises every 4 to 6 weeks to help with the training and guide your apprentice through their programme.

How much does it cost to employ an apprentice?

Apprentices are employees of your company and you are responsible for paying your apprentice’s wage.  You must pay at least the Apprenticeship minimum wage and can find out more by clicking here.  The Apprenticeship minimum wage relates to apprentices aged 16 to 18, or aged 19 and above in the first year of their Apprenticeship.

For apprentices aged under 25, you may not need to pay National Insurance contributions during their training.  Find out more by clicking here.

What days and hours do apprentices work?

Apprentices are employees of your company, with the same rights and responsibilities as any other employee.

As such, you will decide the days and hours you would like apprentices to work (which must be at least 30 hours per week), their rest breaks and paid holiday entitlement etc, in line with Employment Law and the Working Hours Directive.

If you employ an apprentice aged under 18, the law states that they must not work more than 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.  They are also entitled to paid holidays and rest breaks of at least 30 minutes if their shift lasts more than four and half hours.

How are disciplinary procedures handled?

They are handled like any other employee’s, but NLTG are on hand to provide help and support if you feel it is necessary.

What funding and grants are available?

If your apprentice is aged:

• 16-18; or

• 19-24 and is a care leaver or has a Local Authority Education, Health & Care Plan

… you’ll receive a £1,000 incentive payment for each apprentice.

Payments will be made in two equal instalments; the first once the apprentice has been on programme for 3 months and the second after the apprentice has been on programme for 12 months.  (It may take up to 9 weeks after the incentive payment dates for funds to be processed and transferred).

Grants may also be available but the availability and requirements for these change on a regular basis so you are best speaking to us for up-to-date information.

Depending upon the size of your company, different funding arrangements are in place for Apprenticeship training.  For full details, please click here.
