Greater Manchester

Has your hotel, pub, or restaurant felt the heat of increased demand this summer? As Britons across the nation head out on staycation, companies are on the lookout for top staff who can help them. If you’re hiring for your restaurant, hotel, café or event venue this year, the increased incentives for Employers hiring a Catering and Hospitality apprentice in Greater Manchester are a brilliantly strategic way for you to get the team you need. And they’ve recently been extended for employers who hire by the deadline!

The official increased incentives for Employers hiring a Catering and Hospitality apprentice in Greater Manchester are a government initiative designed to assist business owners and recruiters who are on the hunt for talented, career-driven staff such as chefs, front of house personnel, managers, and hospitality team leaders. In a sector that has been particularly hard-hit by national restrictions, they are a welcome opportunity for businesses to get back on track. Where the standard financial incentive for hiring a new apprentice between 16 and 18 years of age is £1,000, these increases have raised the potential payment substantially for a limited period. Because they expire on the 30th of September, however, only companies that apply before the deadline may be eligible to receive a financial bonus simply for growing their organisations.

If your company is welcoming back diners, guests, or party-goers this season, it means that you could be eligible to receive a sum as large as £3,000 in addition to the £1,000 apprenticeship incentive per new 16-18-year-old apprentice that you hire in the industry – depending on the size of your company. The payments received as a result of the increased incentives for Employers hiring a Catering and Hospitality apprentice in Greater Manchester can be a wonderful reinvestment. They’re ideal for investing in new furniture, updated computer systems, or even new venues if your company is keen to grow. If your bar, club, hostel, or restaurant is now offering online ordering and delivery, this incentive payment could be the stimulus you need to get started!

The government’s increased incentives allow Greater Manchester firms to source reliable, flexible staff from a generation that’s ready to learn. With one of NLTG’s many Catering and Hospitality apprenticeship pathways, you can develop your new team member to become a trusted Commis Chef, skilled Production Chef, multi-talented Hospitality Team Member, or food preparation assistant to streamline your kitchen. Your company can decide exactly how it would like to approach your new apprentice’s training, which has allowed many firms to mould, shape, and develop the perfect employee for a specific niche. Whether you choose mentorship, guidance from another staff member, or hands-on training with on the job experience, you can show them the ropes!

Our staff are here to help you secure the maximum incentive that your Greater Manchester is entitled to under the scheme while finding you a fresh-minded new apprentice who is ready to learn under you. What training do I need to provide?

You will need to train a new apprentice in their job role and provide them with a mentor, as you would with any new member of staff.  The apprentice however, may need a little more support, especially if they have not worked in your industry before or are learning a new role.

What days and hours do apprentices work?

Apprentices are employees of your company, with the same rights and responsibilities as any other employee.

As such, you will decide the days and hours you would like apprentices to work (which must be at least 30 hours per week), their rest breaks and paid holiday entitlement etc, in line with Employment Law and the Working Hours Directive.

If you employ an apprentice aged under 18, the law states that they must not work more than 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.  They are also entitled to paid holidays and rest breaks of at least 30 minutes if their shift lasts more than four and half hours.
