Chocolate feasts and outlandish displays mark National Apprenticeship Week at NLTG

Chocolate feasts and outlandish displays were part of National Apprenticeship Week celebrations at North Lancs Training Group (NLTG).

Students from 6 local high schools battled for the title of competition winners in NLTG’s annual Interschool competition held on 6th & 7th March 2018.  Taking up the challenge of creating a ‘Charlie & The Chocolate Factory’ themed feast, including the creation of an innovative wood and glass display stand, students showcased their creative talents and teamworking skills.

Winners from Witton Park Academy, received a school trophy, collage and Chromebook laptops for each student.

National Apprenticeship Week 2018

NLTG is one of the largest providers of Apprenticeships in the area and this is its 2nd interschool competition, held in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week.

Lesley Hudson, Senior Manager at NLTG, commented, “While allowing students to demonstrate their creativity and employability skills – such as team working, planning and communication – our competition also allows them to find out about different careers, including ones they may not previously have considered including glass and furniture occupations.  All students showed incredible creativity and our congratulations to go to winners Witton Park Academy, who created an inspired feast and display.”

High schools taking part in the NLTG competition were: Witton Park Academy (1st Prize winners), Accrington Academy (2nd Prize winners), Mount Carmel Roman Catholic High School (3rd Prize winners), Our Lady & St John Catholic College, Coal Clough Academy and Oswaldtwistle School.
