Company Bio

Fairfield Independent Hospital has been established since 1973. We treat over half of our patients as NHS patients and the other patients come from self pay or via insurance company referrals. We are looking to build on our IT team by offering an apprentice position. An exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced IT Engineer and data analyst to further your knowledge of hospital IT systems has arisen at Fairfield independent Hospital (FIH) in St Helens Merseyside. FIH is located a mile off the East Lancashire Road near St Helens Merseyside.

Description

• Assist with all aspects of NHS and Private Health Insurance patient data processing
• Fairfield staff queries via calls to the IT Department help desk
• Staff computer and printer problem solving
• Server and computer user maintenance and any other IT department support required as as when necessary

Supervision will be provided until capable to work on own initiative. Use of Microsoft Office products and other software systems will be supervised until the apprentice learns to be consistent, accurate, timely, economical and effective at using these systems.

Requirements

Must be able to travel to the hospital site which is in the countryside with intermittent public transport available.

• The IT Engineer role is part of a team of two engineers and two IT data processing colleagues, a dedicated SQL programmer, an apprentice and a Director of IT.
• With standalone computer systems with onsite and cloud backups a virtual environment of 32 servers the engineer will find working on multiple projects across various departments stimulating and rewarding.
• The hospital computer service is a windows environment and uses VMWare hypervisors. There are circa 200 users and 90 telephones.
