6 is the Golden Number!

A City & Guilds Gold Medal for Excellence really is a prestigious award. For NLTG’s Learners and Tutors to win 6 Gold Medals this year is an outstanding achievement.

A City & Guilds Gold Medal for Excellence recognises the achievements of learners, lecturers and trainers from across the world. It acknowledges those who have achieved outstanding results by producing exceptional work – going above and beyond what is expected to accomplish their goals – and those who have shown a true journey of progression throughout their studies.

To put this into perspective, worldwide this year there were 273 applications made for a Gold Medal for Excellence. 62 of those applicants were award a medal and 6 of those were NLTG learners or tutors.

To celebrate the success of the Gold Medal for Excellence winners, NLTG held a special presentation afternoon at our Old Bakery premises. Medal Winners were invited along with family and representatives from their company to receive their medal and certificate. A brief introduction was given by NLTG Operations Director, Gareth Lindsay, who talked about how important it is that learners and tutors are recognised for their outstanding achievements. City & Guilds representatives, Mandy Smith, Sarah Turner and Celia Rawlinson then gave an overview of the awards before reading out comments that were submitted by the medal winners nominators. These comments showed all why the winners were selected and why the deserve a Gold Medal for Excellence.After the presentation, pictures were  taken and a buffet lunch was served for all to enjoy.

NLTG learners and tutors continue to be the highest medal achievers in the 100-year history of the City & Guilds Gold Medal for Excellence awards. NLTG learners and staff have won an outstanding 70 Gold Medals for Excellence since 2006, which is a record at City & Guilds.
