Description

Trainee Technician Setter in a busy integrated manufacturing facility.

• The Apprentice will be taught all aspects of the process including tool design and selection, machine operating procedures and it’s maintenance requirements.
• The Apprentice will be trained in Health & Safety and Quality systems.
• Lean manufacturing kaizen and 5 S principles are followed and will be taught.
• The Apprentice will be taught to set and operate machines to taper, shape and form metal parts.
• This is an exciting opportunity for a capable candidate with a desire to work in an exciting manufacturing environment.
• Set up, operate, or tend forging machines to taper, shape, or form metal or parts

A normal day would include:
• Read and interpret drawings to ensure accurate production and operational requirements, developing to
• Measure and inspect machined components to ensure conformance to product specifications.
• Fabricating and constructing metal components.
• Understand Health and Safety procedures and apply to their working environment
• Learn how to use measuring tools (electronic and manual) to take precise measurements, using both imperial and metric measurements
• Select appropriate tools and settings for a given task.
• Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
• Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
• Complete regular maintenance on machinery
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed. Eventually working independently and part of the Garton team

Senior setter position are available or to transfer to other sections within the business.

• Mentored by the Section Leader and other Business Managers as required.
