1852 – John Curtis & Son Ltd established
John William Curtis, a cabinetmaker, established a shop fitting business in Bond Street, Leeds. Due to his strong work ethic and excellent craftsmanship, the company prospered in the booming economy of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

John William was succeeded by his son of the same name – and in 1894 the company moved to larger premises on the corner of Wade Street and Wade Lane, Leeds. Here the shop fitting business was further developed to include architectural woodwork. During this period the son of John Curtis II, John Wilfred, joined the business.

Do you have the drive and passion to learn a niche skill and be mentored by a fabulous in-house design and manufacturing team, whilst undertaking your level 2 Furniture Assembler qualification?
Curtis Furniture Ltd are searching for a new generation of apprentice Furniture Assemblers.
Working in a fast-paced team you will be learning from the ground up to become a fully-fledged Furniture Assembler.
You will be working with excellent time served mentors and learning all aspects of the business to enable you to gain the confidence to be the best you can be!
You will be learning to:
• Develop your skills to create eye catching furniture, products and items using traditional and modern Assembly/Joinery techniques.
• Using various hand tools and ancillary equipment
• Carry out various jointing methods for the various types of furniture
• Use clamps, cramps and pneumatic presses to assemble the furniture
• Learn various assembly methods based on using materials such as MDF, MFC, Veneer, Solid timber and Laminates
• Adhere to site Health and Safety rules.
• Adhere to internal Quality Standards

This is a wonderful opportunity for a candidate who is practically minded, with excellent problem-solving skills. You will be physically fit as there will be some manual handling and most of all be keen to learn!
