North Lancs Training Group, St John Ambulance and Cardiac Science have collectively donated a brand new defibrillator to Broadfield Specialist School.
Over the past 4 years, North Lancs Training Group has forged a strong bond with Broadfield Specialist School in Oswaldtwistle. Each year 6 pupils from Broadfield accompany 6 apprentices from NLTG to the Outward Bound Centre at Watermillock, Ullswater. These trips have seen each group benefit hugely by increasing confidence, improving communication skills, increasing team working skills and having a better understanding of the needs of other people, rather than just thinking about you. The donation of the defibrillator is a further extension of this relationship.
On Monday 16th March, Jim Harkness MBE and the visiting group presented the defibrillator to the Head, Mrs Banner, as well as other staff and students. The group then had a tour around the school to see classes in action, and the work that is carried out at Broadfield, which recently was judged as “outstanding” by Ofsted.
