NLTG Apprentice of the Year – Nathan Richardson, Gold Crown Bakeries Ltd

Congratulations to Nathan Richardson of Gold Crown Bakeries for winning NLTG’s Apprentice of the Year 2018 award. He started his Level 2 Apprenticeship in Proficiency in Baking Industry Skills on 18th October 2017 after an initial work-placement at Gold Crown Bakeries Ltd. He made such a good impression, that his manager had no hesitation in offering him the opportunity to become an apprentice at the company.

Apprentice of the Year 2018

Nathan’s NLTG tutor, Mark Chapman said, “Nathan has completed his Apprenticeship to a very high standard. He was consistent in submitting his work on time and would even contact myself between visits to submit his work early on occasions so that he could receive feedback and any further help on remaining coursework. Nathan has developed new skills and knowledge by moving around the workplace and getting involved with other departments and tasks. This has contributed to him being a very popular young man in the company and being completely embraced by colleagues and management.”

Nathan successfully completed his Apprenticeship in October 2018 after just 12 months. During this time, he also completed other courses such as Food Safety, Allergens and Health & Safety.

Bakery/Factory General Manager, Jonathan Battersby at Gold Crown Bakeries said, “Nathan has learnt and developed in all aspects of the business. He initially started on packing, however, after showing how versatile and willing to learn he was, he can now work to very high standards in all departments, making him a valued member of the team.”

Nathan said, “I enjoyed working on my Apprenticeship as it gave me the opportunity to learn and develop. I also enjoyed my job role and found that learning more about each department made it even more interesting. I was extremely pleased to have been nominated for the award and completely shocked to have won.”

Well done Nathan!
