Pictured  is 20 year old Jack Lynch employed at NKA Stained Glass in Leigh near Wigan. Jack is employed as an Apprentice stained glass artist by his employer Nick Adi  ( NKA Stained Glass) and is working towards his Intermediate Apprenticeship in glass processing.

Jack decided to look for an Apprenticeship where he could use his hands, and having spent almost 2 years at College doing a joinery course, decided that a work based Apprenticeship would better suit him, ensuring that he would have a wage coming in at the same time as learning new skills. Jack commented ” I was basically on a road to nowhere with the joinery course, there was no guarantee of a job at the end of the course although a family friend was giving me bits of work he couldn’t offer me a job, he was friendly with my employer Nick and mentioned to him that I was interested in a vacancy that he had posted on the NLTG web site. This turned out to be ideal for me as it was close to where I live and would allow me to learn a new trade, as well as meaning that I could work with my hands. I have enjoyed my first year at NKA and worked on some of the countries most beautiful Cathedrals, churches and other historic buildings renovating stained glass windows, all of this whilst earning a wage. The course has also helped me to develop my maths skills and have put these to practice when helping to price job quotations”.

Nick Adi said ” the Apprenticeship funding is great for employers like myself and the fact that I was able to claim a grant of £1500 for Jack has helped with some of his wage costs etc. Jack is a good lad and enjoys his work, he is learning quickly, although there is a lot to learn. Paul from NLTG has been really easy to work with and helps to develop Jacks occupational skills as well as his maths and English. I do have high hopes for Jack and have to say that the recruitment service that NLTG provided did help a lot. I would recommend NLTG and their services to anyone.
