50 Random Acts of Kindness for our 50th Anniversary

NLTG were established in 1969, so, we wanted to carry out 50 Random Acts of Kindness as part of the celebrations for our 50th Anniversary in 2019. Some are large gifts and some are small ‘helping-hands’. Here is a list of what we have achieved so far…

#8 – Recruitment Team donate boxes of food to local food bank

Throughout the month of February, NLTG’s Apprenticeship Recruitment team collected and purchased food/toiletries to donate to a local food bank. On 4th March, the Recruitment team visited Lisa Hilton at St James Church to donate 8 boxes of items. St James food bank is a non-funded charity which relies purely on donations from the public. Lisa was extremely grateful for all donations and stated that currently, within the Accrington borough, there are no registered homeless people due to the hard work and kindness of the local people.

#7 – NLTG Donate a laptop to a school in Tobago

On behalf of North Lancs Training Group, Simon Clarke presents the Head Teacher of Bon Accord School in Tobago a laptop for the benefit of pupils.

Simon comments, “I can honestly say that the visit to the school was the highlight of my whole week in Tobago. The children were all smartly dressed and welcomed us with beaming smiles and fist pumps. The teaching and learning environments were challenging to say the least. The only technology in the classrooms that I saw during the visit was a very old television so the provision of a laptop will inevitably benefit the school and its pupils.”

#2 – £30.83 donated to Pendleside Hospice

Last year, instead of staff buying each other Christmas cards, we decided to put a bigger Christmas card on reception for everyone to sign. Staff could then leave a personal message to all the team and also make a donation to a good cause. The total raised was £30.83 which we recently donated to Pendleside Hospice.
