Lancashire Engaging Apprentices Programme (LEAP)

Free delivery of additional training and support

NLTG are proud to be a delivery partner for the Lancashire Engaging Apprentices Programme.

The Lancashire Engaging Apprentices Programme (LEAP) is part-funded by the European Social Fund. LEAP is designed to:

  • • deliver a targeted mix of additional support, training and development to NLTG apprentices and their workplace mentors employed in Lancashire SMEs*.
  • • provide additionality and support, including bridging programmes, for progression to higher level Apprenticeships.
  • • provide capacity building to ensure Levy funding and other national support is available for apprentices and their employers, eg through Levy Transfers.
*Including those who wish to progress to an Apprenticeship who are on zero hours contracts or are self-employed.

NLTG support and additionality programmes are listed below. We are also able to discuss alternative skills training to meet individual need.

Maths & English Functional Skills

• Pre-Apprenticeship Functional Skills programmes in English and/or maths, from Entry Level to Level 2.

Business & Customer Service

• Leadership and management principles

• People management principles

• Supporting remote or virtual team working

• Providing administrative services

• Developing/delivering presentations

• Understanding working in a customer service environment

Furniture Occupations

• Process improvement and quality control in a commercial environment

• Sustainability in the timber trade

• Wood machining workflow management

• Providing technical advice on furniture manufacture operations

• Solving and preventing manufacturing problems

• Managing and motivating teams

• Teamwork and task allocation

Hospitality & Catering

• Maintaining food safety when preparing, storing and cooking food

• Maintaining food safety when storing, holding and serving food

• Effective team working

• Knife maintenance, handling and cleaning

• Food Safety in Catering – Level 2 Award

• Personal Licence Holders (APLH) – Level 2 Award

Learner Eligibility

To be eligible for LEAP learners must:

  • • be aged 16+ and have a legal right to live and work in the UK; and
  • • be employed in a Lancashire based SME; or be self-employed and have a ‘company’ address which is in Lancashire.

Levy Transfer Support via The Lancashire Levy Transfer Network (LLTN)

A Levy transfer is where an employer who pays the Apprenticeship Levy and has unspent funds, agrees to support another employer to pay for Apprenticeship training.

The Lancashire Levy Transfer Network (LLTN) is an impartial and free service that matches businesses wanting to transfer unused Apprenticeship Levy funds to businesses seeking support to fund the costs of Apprenticeship training for their employees.
