Read Garden Centre is a medium sized business, located in the Ribble Valley. We are a very busy garden centre, expanding all the time.

We are looking for someone to help with the day to day running of the business.
You would ideally have an interest in plants and surrounding areas. You must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team. You must be conscientious and have an eye for detail as your responsibilities are to keep the garden centre looking the best it can be.
A lot of work carried out will be outdoors, under covered outdoor areas and also indoor work so you would be required to come prepared, ready to work in any environment.
We have deliveries every week. Including heavy lifting of compost, pots, large plants and trees etc... which you will be required to help unload and display.
We have lots of customers everyday, so all our employees should be presentable and represent our company in a professional manor.

Description

You will be required to listen and follow instructions, as well as complete tasks in an efficient manner. You should be punctual, positive and enthusiastic as well as flexible and adaptable. There are a wide range of tasks and skills required for this role, so being someone who likes to get stuck in is important. Someone who will ask questions if unsure about what to do and spends their time productively. Most importantly you should be polite, considerate and respectful.
The duties of this role consist of the following:
• Taking deliveries of stock
• Marketing stock and making sure everything is displayed the best it can be, ready to sell.
• Dealing with and helping customers.
• Making bespoke displays for each product.
• Pricing products ready to sell.
• Label making and point of sale sorting.
• Carrying heavy items to customer cars.
• Assisting in sales area, greeting customers, operating the till and handling money.
• Watering plants and keeping everything looking good and much, much more.
• Offer advice on plant keeping and plant choice after a period of training and experience.
We will give you all the training, skills and knowledge you need to perform this role. However, previous experience is always of great benefit.
