The Glass Processing qualification is aimed at those who undertake work to produce products from glass and related materials in the glass processing sector.

You’ll work with glass or glass-related materials, will need to be creative and have an eye for detail. Job roles are varied and you may work as a flat glass processor (manufacturing flat glass and glass related materials); a craft or stain glass worker (involved in glass painting, staining, enamelling, leading or cutting); a double glazing unit maker, making up double glazed units, glass design work (decorating glass and producing original or copying existing designs on items such as mirrors and glass panels); or a glass cutter (cutting glass and mirrors to specified shapes and sizes). You may also be involved in using CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinery to shape, drill and grind glass, and working from either computer designs or technical drawings.

Entry Requirments

You will need English and maths at GCSE Grade E / 2, or equivalent qualifications (eg Entry Level 3). If you do not have English or maths at this level, we will invite you to take a Skills Scan to check your current level of skill.

Assessment

• Practical observation in your workplace plus evidence of your skills and knowledge such as witness testimonies or training records.
