100’s of jobs waiting for you!
Every day, companies produce, manufacture and sell millions of food and drink products in the UK and worldwide, including cakes, biscuits, ice cream, soft and alcoholic drinks, confectionery, ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook food, sandwiches, wraps, dairy products, fresh fruit and salads.
As a Process Operator, you’ll work in the manufacturing side of the industry and your role will vary depending upon the company you work for. You may work in a small business such as a bakery, or large production company.
You’ll typically work on a production line using highly automated equipment and technology, to ensure products are produced to strict food and safety quality standards.
You will need English and maths at GCSE Grade E / 2, or equivalent qualifications (eg Entry Level 3). If you do not have English or maths at this level, we will invite you to take a Skills Scan to check your current level of skill.
As part of your Apprenticeship, you will study a Level 2 Diploma in Food & Drink Operations which will be assessed by a portfolio of work. You will need to pass this diploma before undertaking the following final assessments:
• Practical observation in your workplace.
• Multiple choice test.
• Professional discussion and interview.
After completing the Level 2 Apprenticeship, you can progress onto further study in the Food Manufacturing sector.
