The Food Production and Cooking Apprenticeship is suggested for candidates looking to work within local authority catering, school meals, residential and care homes, the National Health Service, either as contractors or direct caterers, and licenced retail outlets. It is also perfect for those who are currently working within the industry and would like to either gain a qualification or would like to enhance their skills further.

Learners are required to take mandatory units in Health and safety, Teamwork and Food safety. They then have a choice of optional units covering different areas within food production and cooking. There is a wide range of optional units, allowing learners to choose the most suitable to meet the needs of their own work role within their catering environment.
