Course Overview

If you have a flare and passion for cooking, and the dedication to become an outstanding Head Chef, working as a Commis Chef is the first step on your career path.

As a Commis Chef you will be supervised by a more senior chef, learning how to prepare and carry out basic cooking. You’ll work in all sections of the kitchen on rotation - such as fish, pastry, sauces, vegetables and butchery - to help you decide which area you feel most inspired to specialise in.

You’ll maintain high standards of hygiene, learn how to use a range of kitchen equipment, prepare and measure ingredients, and deal with deliveries and stock. The style of cooking you do, will be determined by the type of restaurant or hotel you are working in.
