Case Study – Elspeth Yates Apprenticeship at Lancashire Constabulary Name: Elspeth Yates Company: Lancashire Constabulary Job Role: HR Assistant Since when: April 2013 I first started my Apprenticeship in April 2013 within the HR Department, working on the Recruitment Team. On my first day, I thought I would just be doing the filing and the post but I was put to work straight away getting training on the beginning stages of the Special Constable process. Within 12 months, I had gained a lot of experience within recruitment by being part of different processes, from Special Constables to PCs, to now running the Police Community Support Officer process myself. One of the great things about doing my Apprenticeship is that I also got the chance to gain more qualifications while working; alongside my work I studied an NVQ Level 2 in Business & Administration. Towards the end of my Apprenticeship I had the chance to apply for a HR Assistant role. Alongside this role I was given the chance to carry on with my qualifications. I am now in the process of completing my NVQ Level 3 in Business & Administration alongside my day to day job. Doing an Apprenticeship was one of the best choices I made as I feel I have learned a lot in the years I have been here and it has been a big help in starting off my career.
