Case Study – Chloe Murrie Apprenticeship at GCT Name: Chloe Murrie Age: 18 Company: GCT Job Role: Warehousing Assistant What is your job role and what does that involve? I am a Warehousing Assistant. That involves all sorts of things including answering phones, picking and packing orders and tidying up the office and warehouse. How did you find out about Traineeships and why did you decide to undertake one? I found the position on a jobs website. I applied to NLTG and started on my Traineeship first before my Apprenticeship as I felt this would be best for me. What qualifications have you gained during your Traineeship and/or what qualifications are you working towards at the moment? I am currently working towards my NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing and Logistics. What do you enjoy most about doing the Traineeship? I enjoy meeting new people and learning new things every day and by doing the Traineeship it gave me an insight into the industry first. How has the Traineeship benefited you? What skills have you learned? I have learned more about the products we sell and about the different companies and clients we work with. I have also gained more confidence in talking to new people whether over the phone or in person. Have you progressed in the company or have you progressed onto an Apprenticeship? I have progressed from my Traineeship into a full time Apprenticeship but I have also progressed in the company by working in a team and also by myself. What benefits has your employer seen? I am more hands on and a better team worker. Has your attitude changed towards training? My attitude towards my Apprenticeship is really positive. It is a lot better than I thought it was going to be. What would you advise school leavers about Traineeships/Apprenticeships? I think you should go for it. It is a small step towards getting a job and a big step towards your future career.
