If you’re creative and have a passion for cooking, the baking industry offers a range of exciting job roles including: cake decorator, confectioner, craft/artisan baker, in-store baker, plant baker or sales/service support assistant. You could find yourself working in a specialist shop or delicatessen, a large industrial bakery, or an in-store or supermarket bakery. After developing your skills as a skilled baker, there may also be opportunities to travel and work overseas. Depending on your role, you may make items such as cakes, breads, biscuits, pastries or confectionery, either by hand, or by using machinery to manufacture large amounts of goods for shops. You’ll maintain high standards of hygiene, learn how to prepare, measure and mix ingredients, and how to use a range of equipment.
