NLTG Apprentice Lukas Roe-Bell giving a tour of Beagle Orthopaedic

Name: Lukas Roe-Bell

Age: 17

Company: Beagle Orthopaedic

What is your job role and what does that involve?

Customer service is a big part of what I do, which involves putting orders into the system and talking to customers over the phone and by email. I also do some marketing, such as updating information and product descriptions on the e-commerce website.

How did you find out about Apprenticeships and why did you decide to undertake one?

I found out about Apprenticeships from my cousin, who has undertaken a manufacturing Apprenticeship with NLTG. He really loved his apprenticeship and was getting a lot from it, so I was persuaded by him really.

What skills have you gained during your Apprenticeship and/or what qualifications are you working towards at the moment?

I am currently working towards a Level 3 in Business Administration. I have gained quite a lot of self-confidence since starting at Beagle. I would say one of the main things I have gained is my written and verbal communications from talking to and emailing customers. My IT and general marketing skills have improved too, due to updating the e-commerce site and making changes to the website on a regular basis.

What do you enjoy most about doing an Apprenticeship?

I have really enjoyed being involved in e-commerce and marketing sides of the business.

What would you say to someone considering an Apprenticeship, would you recommend it?

An apprenticeship is a lot better than I expected, it is such a great way to learn on the job, without having to worry about student debt. I love that you can also move onto further or different apprenticeships after, so you get the skills you need, for the job you want.
