Lisa started her Advanced Apprenticeship in Management early 2008. Since then she has been promoted to the Food Hall Manager. The qualification is helping her managerial skills, organising and giving her a more formal approach.
Lisa began working at Huntleys when she was 15 years old as a part time Saturday waitress. After finishing college she had a selection of uninteresting jobs and found herself drifting back to Huntleys. At the age of 18 Lisa began working full time as a waitress. Lisa's potential was quickly recognised and she was promoted to Assistant Manager in less than 12 months. When an opportunity arose for the position of Restaurant Manager, Lisa with her ambition and motivation, was the obvious choice for the role.
As Restaurant Manager, Lisa assisted in the rapid growth of Huntleys to where it is today, a 200 seat restaurant and a Food Hall that consists of a Craft Bakery, Butchers, Fish Mongers and Delicatessen.
When a position became available as the Food Hall Manager Lisa saw this as a chance to broaden her skills and knowledge within the industry. Only 2 months into her role Lisa has already got lots of new exciting plans for the future.
Throughout her career at Huntleys Lisa has continuously demonstrated her commitment to her role within the company and this is reflected in her achievements, Lisa has recently been crowned Lancashire's Advanced Apprentice of The Year, she was awarded this title at a prestige awards night held at the Dunkenhalgh hotel in Accrington and presented her award by Blue Peter's Konnie Hoq.
She has also been awarded the title of Most Outstanding Tourism Manager of the Year and received highly commended as Lancashire's Employee of the Year. This month Lisa has also been nominated for a City and Guilds Gold Medal of Excellence.
Her Director Eddie Cowpe states,
"I remember when Lisa first began at Huntley's she was lacking confidence and nervous. To look at her today she has come a long way and is a different girl. Lisa has progressed from a waitress and I was proud to have her as my Restaurant Manager and now the Food Hall Manager. She is reliable, trustworthy, professional and runs the Food Hall with minimum input.
Lisa has a fantastic relationship with all staff and has a ‘firm but fair' approach. Staff feel she is approachable and solves many problems both personally and professionally.
Her personality shines through the restaurant and many customers ask of her whereabouts when she is not on shift. I have never heard a negative comment regarding Lisa from staff or customers. Lisa is nothing but professional in all aspects of her role."
Her training officer Donna Coleman states,
"I am very proud of what Lisa has achieved and there is no doubt in my mind that she will continue to be successful in her career. Lisa has never cancelled any appointments and has always completed her work. She takes full ownership of her qualification and fully understands what is required. She supports other staff and encourages them to enroll of the Apprenticeship."
