The Team Leading Level 2 NVQ/Apprenticeship is aimed at supervisors, managers and team leaders in almost any environment from warehousing to call centers and retail outlets to manufacturers.
There is one qualification available at present which is that of the Team Leading Level 2 NVQ and Apprenticeship encorporating Key Skills, 2 units from another relevant NVQ and learning about employees rights and responsibilities.
The NVQ involves undertaking 6 units to demonstrate your abilities in the workplace and your knowledge and understanding of these areas of responsibilities.
Units include:
Demonstrating your responsibility to health and safety in the workplace, looking at risk assessments, ensuring your team is complying with company policy and legal requirements as well as using equipment to the required standard. Effective communication and looking at how you deal with your team, manager and those in other departments along with learning how to deliver effective team briefings. Controling your resources and ensuring they are being used by your team efficiently and effectively along with encouraging your team to develop new ideas for their use. Improving your teams performance by analysing the work they are doing, reviewing their work and developing a training plan where nessessary and motivating your team.
These are just a few of the areas that the team leading nvq will cover, 4 units are mandatory and the other 2 are selected out of 5 optional units which are dependant on the learners job role.
More and more employers are recognising the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) qualifications from the NHS and Army to the Rescue services and this is a fantastic opportunity to join the growing number of people with an ILM Level 2 Team Leading Qualification.

This qualification really is open to anyone within a supervisory/team leading role and not just those under 25 years old, those over can be considered as we have just had a Great Grandmother complete the qualification successfully.
Also you will be invited to attend a 2 day training course where you will be introduced to other team leaders from other companies and given training in areas such as risk assessments, inductions, appraisals/reviews, effective communication, briefings, planning training and time management. At the end of the first day you will be set projects to go away and put into practice in the workplace. Approx 4 weeks later you will be invited back to discuss with the other delegates your findings and anything you may have learned.
For employees, if you have a large number i.e. 8-12 team leaders you wish to put forward for this qualification then these 2 courses can be run at your premises and taylored to your requirements.
Apprenticeships are free for 16 to 18 year olds and 19 to 24 year olds. For those that cannot do an apprenticeship who are 19 years old and over *, you can do an NVQ plus Essential Skill in either literacy or numeracy via our Train 2 Gain scheme.
