As a Furniture and Interiors apprentice you will be following a comprehensive programme which offers training in a variety of skills in the furniture industry.
This qualification could range from Cabinet Making, Upholstery, Polishing, Cutting and Sewing.
The tasks you may undertake will range between producing or polishing office furniture, bespoke furniture, household furniture, and restoration. Upholstery may include working on traditional or modern furniture items. Along with this you would be learning design and development and the cutting of patterns prior to upholstering the items of furniture.
What training will I receive?
An opportunity to attend our Centre of Vocational Excellence in furniture manufacture will be incorporated into your training programme, as required, to further enhance your knowledge and skills (turn to the next page for more information on our CoVE centre). Each apprentice will have specialised tuition by our time served, qualified tutors, this will assist them to achieve the qualification within a set timescale.

All of our Training Officers are committed to you as the learner, giving you support where you need it most.
Apprenticeships are free for 16 to 18 year olds and 19 to 24 year olds. For those that cannot do an apprenticeship who are 19 years old and over *, you can do an NVQ plus Essential Skill in either literacy or numeracy via our Train 2 Gain scheme.
ATTENTION EMPLOYERS OUT THERE - Apprenticeships are not only free for most of your staff, they are also an excellent motivator for all, and show what type of employer you are, contact us for more information.
* for Train 2 Gain, you must be employed under a contract of employment, do not hold 5 GCSE grades at A-C (CSE grade 1), or an NVQ 2 or equivalent, do not hold an academic qualification at A level or above, not already on a Government funded programme.
