NLTG support all learners with English and maths, regardless of their age or programme. Support is given either by the Training Officer within their visit or a separate visit from a Skills for Life Trainer. All learners undertake an English and maths assessment as part of the sign-up process.
Our Skills for Life Team of qualified teachers support those learners who need to work on their English and maths separately from the NVQ visit or who wish to achieve a qualification in English or maths. They work alongside the Training Officer and relate English and maths to the workplace wherever possible. These visits are usually one hour sessions in a quiet place where teaching can take place to address the skills gaps. All teaching is tailored to the individual’s needs.
Skills for Life underpins the Key Skills and Functional Skills element of an Apprenticeship and aims to equip learners with the English and maths skills needed for work and life.
